UWEZO Youth Empowerment is a youth led disabled persons organisation (DPO), run by and for young disabled people in Rwanda.
The Disability Rights Fund (DRF) has been funding UWEZO since 2015 to implement a project entitled “Access to work and employment for youth with disabilities.
Under this project, UWEZO conducted a baseline survey on barriers to work and employment for youth with disabilities in 2015 which serves as a baseline in addressing employment related issues in Rwanda. The partnership with the National Youth Council was also realized through the activities implemented under this partnership.
DRF continues to build the skills of UWEZO and its members in addressing issues related to work and employment by engaging with relevant stakeholders both public, civil society and the private sector at national and international levels.
DRF provides updated updated disability information scaled from global to regional levels and as well keeping UWEZO informed about the new trends on disability, The realization the UN CRPD and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals DRF
