Uwezo’s Contribution to IDPD 2024 in Rwanda: Empowering Youths with Disabilities
On December 3, 2024, Uwezo Foundation proudly participated in International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) in Rwanda, with a special focus on Nyaruguru District. Uwezo Founder Bahati and the team visited the area, engaging with local communities to celebrate and support PWDs.
In addition to raising awareness, Uwezo provided tools for Young People with Disabilities (YWDs) to help them start their own businesses and become financially independent. These donations included items like wheelchairs, agricultural tools, and small-scale business equipment, designed to help YWDs overcome barriers and break the cycle of poverty.
This initiative aligns with Uwezo’s ongoing work of mentoring and training YWDs, giving them the tools and skills they need to thrive and contribute to their communities.
Through this day, Uwezo reinforced its commitment to empowerment and inclusion, making strides towards a more accessible and equitable future for all.
